Today I will discuss about why Production support/Application Support Job is in demand and so many IT professionals are working and moving on Production Support Projects. The main reason behind this is Maintenance of the project , most important activities that any organisation looks to achieve is keeping their systems running 24×7, also termed as Production Support. It is an extremely crucial link seen by business to ensure efficiency. So it becomes all the more important to run Production Support in an efficient way. 24×7 means you need to be very pro-active and take responsibility of the application, if any issue occurs in Application Production Support Engineer is the Single point of contact to resolve the issue.

Let’s Understand more on Production Support /Application Support and why it’s important to any Organisation.  As we know once software is being developed and tested it will move to Production after that interaction of client is limited to Production support Engineer for any issue related to business. Issues in Application can be of any types and production support team is the owner of that application and he needs to resolve the issue and update the customer on time.

·        Taking ownership of Client/Customer issues reported and seeing problems through to resolution.

·        Following standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the appropriate teams including development, networking, DBA team etc.

·        Researching, diagnosing, troubleshooting and identifying solutions to resolve system issues.

·        Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time.

·        Follow up with clients to ensure their IT systems are fully functional.

·        Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and proper document

·        Maintain Good Relationship with Clients

Why so many Jobs available for Production Support Engineer is that Production support engineer role isn’t just a job it’s a lifeline to your customers and client. You’re at the forefront of the company and are often the first contact your customer/Client has with the brand. They need you as you are solving problems and making lives less stressful. You make a difference and that’s powerful stuff. Not only Production support team help troubleshoot potential software problems, and assist your customers, but you will also be kick-starting your own career as you get benefits from projects as below.

Practical Exposure , Soft Skill , Up-to-date technological knowledge , Dynamic, exciting role, Industry development etc.

Production Support role keeping you on the edge of technological advancement, you will constantly learn, engage with and understand the latest technology solutions. Learning these valuable skills will help you approach new information and more efficiently adopt technological updates. Apart from technology you can learn management skills as on daily or weekly basis you need to interact with clients and can see some changes required from clients then accordingly you need to take action and explain the same to other team members who involved in the projects. Also you will get so much of exposure from the clients to understand more about whole application. But  developer is limited with code only but in Production support you are going to handle the whole application and make client happy .

 

Nowadays there is lots of Demand for Production Support engineer as L2/L3 role as they need to resolve the issues within SLA by using various tools and technologies. Also they need to be very responsible on his work area because if any issue occurs client will ask questions to support team only. So many Learning’s if you are working in Production Support project  as issue can be of different types . Finally, I want to say Production Support/ Application Support  Job role is very important in IT industry as they are responsible for Maintenance , resolving issues etc. Most of Candidate is thinking Production Support Role is not fit for them as during course he learn about language and coding but if you have good technical skills then it’s easy for you to get opportunity to work in L3 team so that with technical skills you can also learn Management by using various methodologies   and also take responsibility of the project. Overall you will get good exposure on application and you can learn so many things apart from technology. Also in Technology you will have good hands on different platform which is used for automation of the project.
