Online Learning Advantage and Disadvantage.

Hello Everyone,

Today I am going to discuss about online learning and Advantage and Disadvantage of online learning. As we know year 2020 is not good for students as well as for the organization due to COVID 19  as everything is going through online if you are student then you need to study with online platform and if you are working professional then you are also working for home through online mode only . For working professional it’s easy to do the things as he aware about all the things and can communicate with their colleagues if required but for students it’s totally different as all the class is going through online mode. So in this blog I will discuss about Students online study benefits and disadvantage both.

So let understand first what is online learning: Online learning is a form of distance learning that takes place over the internet and it’s include online courses, exams, quizzes, and certification training. Most of us are familiar with classroom learning from our schooldays but online learning is a new field. There are several differences between online and classroom or offline study. Problem with online course is there is no face-to-face contact with students and professor or teacher. So let’s understand the advantage and disadvantage of online learning.

Advantage of Online Learning :

Main Advantage of Online learning we can say saving time and money and no need to travel , Although many people still consider traditional studies as the best way to achieve knowledge and get a diploma, online learning proves to be a great alternative. Students have the chance to study in their own time and especially they can able to decide the timeline when he is free. It represents a great way to study many fields and to boost the level of self-motivation. Online learning is so effective because students can finish their work quickly, and there is more time left for other activities or for finding a job. Access to all resources of a traditional course helps participants learn wherever they are, leaving them the freedom to choose the time for study. For Learning online course you only need an Internet connection, and  person can attend different courses. One of the major benefits of online learning usually includes pre-recorded videos. Sometimes these are simple recordings of lectures with or without accompanying slides. Sometimes videos include embedded questions that students have to answer before continuing the video so by this students can able to learn various tools as well apart from study .Also Student can speed up videos during easy parts, and slow them down to understand more difficult concepts. You can pause videos while writing notes or re-watch them as often as necessary also If you download videos or transcripts your mobile/computer you will then have unlimited time to access the recorded video.

 

Disadvantage of Online Learning :

Major Disadvantage of Online Learning is no face to face interaction between students and teachers . In Online learning only in a small group a person can develop properly. At school, students learn how to make friends, be patient, get rid of disappointment, and especially to compete. Competition between colleagues can be very stimulating and students will only benefit from it. Through Online learning cannot offer human interaction and any group discussion from students. Other disadvantage refers to the fact that online courses cannot handle with thousands of students that try to join discussions. Online learning can be difficult, if it is meant for disciplines that involve practice and also faculty are not sure whether student are able to understand the topic clearly or not. In Online learning  It can be hard to find answers to questions or resolve difficulties, especially when discussion forum participation is low also you can’t ask any questions directly to faculty or cannot discuss the same with other students during course time. Other main disadvantage I can say is lack of practice-base learning and reliance on technology.

 

Whereas benefits of Classroom learning is Face to Face interaction between Students and Faculty , You can ask questions assuming the instructor welcomes your questions also You can discuss issues with fellow students. Through classroom learning there is ample opportunity for social interaction and support. Students have access to on-campus student facilities.

 

Finally what I observe , online learning should be seen as a complement and extension of classical forms of learning. Not even the best online course can fully replace the personal contact with a teacher, or the human relationships that develop in a group. So traditional classes should not be replaced with online learning. Traditional classes still better than online classes where students can directly interact with teachers and clear his/her doubt during the classroom session. But we can’t say through online learning we can’t learn the topic as you can earn so many things during training or classroom session but still I think online learning cannot replace the traditional classes .
